Disco Diary For October Part 1: Castro Street Fair, Bootycall, and Honey Soundsystem

October was an especially fun month for the disco citizens of SF, some still dusty from the Playa or the bathroom stall. One thing is true about San Franciscans, they do know how to party. And dam child are we good at throwing them–see Fag Friday(s).

Early in October we had yet another street fair, in a long line of them.  June, July, August and September is like a tsunami of Gay.  Gay Pride, Dore, Folsom, and then Castro Street.  I’m not complaining though. It’s an awesome way to see our SF tax dollars at work.  Literally tens of thousands of people take to the streets these events. We have awesome music, drinks, usually enough port-o-potties, and then it all gets cleaned up by the city of SF.

Started by Harvey Milk, this was the 39th street Fair. It was pretty awesome. Juan Garica, founder of Beatbox events, handled the entertainment and Maximus Barnaby, known for his legendary SF Boylesque, had 18th Street between Hartford and Noe filled with contortionists, sword swallowers, bearded Ladies, escape artists, glass eaters, clowns, jugglers and More!

While not a part of the of Max’s street of Wonder, Juanita More! hosted a special Bootycall to coincide with the Castro Street Fair.

We hit this before heading off to the new Honey Soundsytem space.
